Have you read all the documents - seems strange that 1 month has passed by then you are slammed by charges
What is the insurance for?
£1287 for insurance?
Why don't you call them and have a chat. Tell them exactly how you feel and what the original agreement was, hear what they have to say. Credit card companies want business and would compromise or even knock of the extra charges.
Society - It's not a credit card. It's a kitchen on a credit plan, I assume with the kitchen company.

Is the kitchen currently in progress or has the job not started as yet? If it has not started then you could try to talk your way out of it.
