Hi Guys, hope someone out there can help me. First a bit of background, untill recently I had a completely clean criminal record. However, two years ago I was in a domestically violent relationship. On one particularly bad occasion I was forced to call the police for assistance. My ex partner was arrested but not before he informed them that I had smacked him around the face, I had while trying to escape his blows. When the police asked me if this was true, I admitted it and they told me they were forced to arrest me. At the police station, my ex partner who denied all charges, was released without charge due to lack of evidence and I was given a caution for common assault.
Cutting to the chase, I have today been offered a position working with vunerable adults, subjuct to a CRB check. I informed the employer that I had a caution on my application form but they have not as yet questioned me about it at all.
So now after checking on certain forums, I have worked myself into a complete panic that the offer of employment will be withdrawn once they realise it was given due to an assault charge.
Can anyone give me any advice or put my mind at risk.
Thankyou

i do these checks all the time i work in admin for people that care for elderley in their own homes. In my work even if it is declared when crb comes back with anything on it then a risk assessment is required where you will have a meeting with boss to discuss and then they will either accept or reject your application. We do take people on with criminal records but if an audit is carried out as long as a risk assesment is on file its ok. Dont worry yourself x
Like 4get said. My cousin has a caution for common assault on her record. When it came to renew her CRB she had to have a meeting with her manager and they required her to make a statement that goes into her file. That's it...nothing else was mentioned.
