I am from Slovakia and i work in warehouse for three years and study at University. I was never interested in any of the companys'parties till yesterday where i had fun with my friends on christmas party from work. I was dancing and next to me was dancing English girl from morning shift and she was pushing me and she did not stop even if i said to her to stop. we ended up with pulling our hair out (she pulled mine and she made ''nice'' bald on my head, what i didnt take any of hers) Security was taking just me out, not her. I have heard that we are going to be suspended and later will be investigation. Fault was on both sides, but it will be her word against mine. I would like to know what are my rights and what I need to know about suspending. Any help counts. Thank you.

I really must get to Specsavers. Was getting quite excited as I thought this was about an altercation in a whorehouse.

If you weren't actually at work being paid to do your job then they can't touch you, someone is winding you up
Ask the barrister in court to take his wig off.
If you are suspended then I would expect that both of you will be barred from going into work until the whole matter has been investigated. This was a party so there should be lots of witnesses. It must have been quite a fight to leave you with a bald patch.
that is not true dot, sorry.

For example if you broke the law (by for example downloading child porn) on your home computer, at home, you could be sacked from your job - loss of trust
English Lesson No. 1

Never socialise with people you have to work with.
Absolutely bednobs, and if the works party has been paid for by the employer, it would not count as "in your own time" even though it was.
I'd like to see any company try to suspend or disciplne it's warehouse staff for an altercation on a night out. What do they store in the warehouse Majka gold bulleon?
For some, it's about the reputation of the employer, dotty. On the other hand, this could be a wind-up, this is OP's first post.
There have been a few posts recently that seem like wind-ups. Body & Soul seems to be attracting some too.

All what I know, is that company where I work is the most racistic place in the world :(( I have never had problems before, I do my work properly and never had an absence. This is ridicullous!
Charner, if proved otherwise I will retract, but as factor confirms, there have been a few very odd posts lately. I have given advice from my perspective, I'm not jeering, I would be in trouble if I had a fight myself at a works do.
Welcome to AB, Charner73. I started on AB by looking for a crossword answer. I'm always interested in what makes non-members stumble on AB through a question like this.

Majka, do you have a personnel department, you need advice from the company about their policies. So far you say you have heard that you are suspended, but you would have to receive that notification in writing saying how long for, and whether you will be paid. Do you have a union rep in your warehouse, who you could contact?
n o charner but i have a lifetime of common sense and if this isn't a wind up then I stand by what i say, she works in a warehouse not a bank, once she's on a night out at her own expense she can behave like a chav if she likes
Oh, and for a serious answer, it is possible for the employer to suspend in these circumstances, but all anyone suspended can do is go along with the investigation process and seek support from a colleague or union in any hearings.
It's a works party, in my book that means that the employer is paying.
