Hello
I had a card pushed through my door recently for me to contact the local authority. We I did they told me they had had a complaint from my neighbour about the height of some of our trees.
The first is a Magnolia, which is close to both houses which I have agreed to take down. The second is some Holly trees in my rear garden. My neighbour is complaining that these Holly trees (2 of) are blocking the light to his conservatory. The Holly trees are about gutter level and boarder the fence between us. They had the conservatory erected around 2 years ago, while my Holly trees have been there 15 years plus (they were there when I moved in)
I do not want to touch these are I like them and a lot of the Tit birds use them which I feed.
Can I be forced to cut them down?
Thanks
Is there any sort of preservation order on them? there are certainly rules about not blocking light from your neighbours with trees or fences. How high are your trees?
Contrary to what it says above, there are certainly NOT any rules about not blocking light from your neighbours with trees. Fences are limited to 2 metres without planning consent. Hedges may be a different issue, but not single trees.
