buying matches minimum age

What is the minimum age for buying matches. i googled it and only got sport match ticket sites hence i'm asking you lot.

I needed some for camping so went to the shop and the guy weren't sure but as i could show i was 16, he thought that would be ok, so I could buy them, but is the minimum age actually 18?

Why not just save a LOT of hassle and get someone else to buy them for you.

it's the same as the age limit on tobacco...

So when the tobacco age limit went upto 18 so did the age limit for buying matches.

We weren't allowed to start proper fires as we were on MOD property, we used them to light the stoves/ hexiblocks.

And as it is the same as tobacco, I believe that would mean you have to be asked for ID if you look under the age of 25.
