can i cancel mobile contract if i now get no signal

i have10 months left on a 2 yr contract with orange, when i 1st got the phone i lived in the midlands and got a signal with no problem i have since moved to cambridgeshire i now dont get a signal in the house and in parts of the local village, i have phoned orange and they have agreed that i only get a weak signal as the nearest mast is about 6 miles away, i asked what they could do for me and they said there was nothing they could do as there is no plans to place a mast closer, so i am just wondering would i be in my rights to cancel my contract ?
any help would be greatful

Unless you specifically asked them about coverage at your new home and they gave an incorrect answer, I don't see what Orange have done wrong.

Maybe if you asked nicely they would allow you to terminate the contract, but you almost certainly don't have the right to.
they are not providing you with the service for which you are paying...its is not their fault - or yours, but its still a fact.

write to them explaining the situation and tell them that unless they can give you the service you are paying for you think it s only fair for them to allow you to cancel the contract.
we had a similar problem... and major issues trying to cancel contract. In the end we stopped paying the monthly line rental..as we had a other phone that did work by this point - but we sent them about 9 letters and 2 emails of which they ignored ALL of them - until we stopped paying.. Then they sent threatening demands.
They just wouldnt listen...
In your instance.. I think you are probably stuck with it as it worked for the months you were at your prev address. Ours didnt work from day one....

i am really sorry to have to say that you are pretty much stuck.
it was your choice to move and therfore that contract still stands. they have fulfilled their part of it and it worked fine. it is therefore not their problem if you move after you get you contract.
all they will say to you is that you should have checked to make sure that the civerage in that area was up to standard and i understand that you were not thinking of that when you were moving but that is just how it is.

but lets hope that they will come up with some sort of solution for you. all the best
used to be a manager of a phone shop and the basic problem is this..orange have gave you a handset probably free of charge as you have agreed to give them a set amount of money each month,however part of your contract small print will state that if you cannot get a standard service then orange are in breach of contract, the fact that you have moved house makes no difference as you still live in uk where orange claim to have 97.3% coverage. firstly ring orange and drop tarriff to lowest on offer(this you can do as you've had it longer than 11 months) then you need to report to orange 3 seperate call drops i.e times and dates this then states orange have failed in there side of contract. just a case of gettin thru to a helpful member of staff as a senior member of staff will have the power to cancel contract. good luck
