Hi
I've just received a collection bag for unwanted clothing, etc from SUPPORTING ARMS, No 06846572. As I have never heard of them or have any contact details or charity number, how can I find out if they are bona fide?

Many thanks,

Online register from Chrity Commission http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/

If they do not provide a phone number so you can verify them, it's probably a scam. All good charities provide contact details, charity number (not company number)) and ways to verify their existence.

Web sites saying this particular one is a scam, in the sense that they are not a registered charity. ALthough it is not illegal for them to collect stuff you leave out for them.

Thanks Pigletion for your response. It's amazing what you can find out when you dig a little deeper! I've just tracked them via Companies House and, yes, they are a Private Limited Company! Thanks for your advice and links...
