Hi everyone x We cant afford our house anymore, so we are wanting to sell it to clear the mortgage and debts we have.
We will be moving into my dads house while we get sorted, which will be really cramped, with 4 adults and 3 kids in a 3 bed house.
Will we be able to apply for council housing or housing association accomodation? or are we classed as voluntarily homeless?
My husband had to give up work due to illness, and needs me at home to care for the children, so im now unable to work any more than part time hours.
which just doesnt cover normal outgoings.
We have had to use credit cards to get by the last 6 months, but these are now to their limits, and my hubby is unable to work to pay them off.
We not looking for handouts, just some help to get us stable and settled. Many thanks x

The best advice really is see a debt counsellor at the CAB as soon as you can. They can help arrange payment plans, get interest frozen etc.

DO NOT under any circumstances go to one of these firms offering to help, as you are likely to exchange one problem for another.

I wish that was an option, but as we cannot pay our mortgage then we have to sell up.
i could pay the bills, as the cards are only about 2,000.
But if u include the water, c tax that has not been paid thats over 1,000.
I cant get the mortgage frozen can i?
this must be an awful situation for you. Please seek some professional advice as advocated in the 1st post. Is the situation likley to change in the near future? For example you may be able to stall the mortgage company for a few months. you may be able to get benefits to pay the interest
We have frozen our mortgage for 6 months with no problem at all because my husband is unemployed. We have just been able to claim back all the council tax we have paid as well.
Go to the CAB they will be able to help you.
