what can i get from my works pension when i have been told that i have less than 12 month to live due to terminal cancer?

you'll have to contact your HR dept to find out what your employer can do with regards to your pension.

Yes, indeed.
Either through HR or directly, you need to talk to the Scheme Provider. If you are still currently employed, you should be able to take early retirement pretty immediately and start using the benefits you have accrued in the remaining time that you have.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Many pension schemes (particularly NHS, Civil Service etc) have special arrangements fo those who have a terminal illness. My sister died recently & she received a lump sum = to 8 years pension, a lot more than she would have had. She only applied 'cos of what I had read on the internet, work were too slow to react to her situation, so please do your own research, and push them if necessary on timescales. You and yours are entitled to it. Will be thinking of you
