mother of grandson refuses to let grandmother and father of son access to him do we have any legal rights regarding this

How old is the child?

Is the father named on the birth certificate?

What has happened so far? Did dad ever have contact? Did dad ever live with the child?

no his name not on birth certificate but has had access from son aged from 6 months to present . he is 6 years old now. he has stayed with father on numerous occasions. thank you
The father should apply to the court for a contact order - only in exceptional circumstances will it be refused
