if someone gifted you some money to enable you to pu tdown a deposit for a house (house/mortgage registered in your sole name)would this entitle them to a benefical interest/trust in the property.

If it was a gift, no. If it was given on some other terms it may be. However, it is for the person alleging a beneficial interest which is contrary to the legal title in the property to prove it.

thanks Barmaid, would it be the same if someone had sold you the house cheaper than the current market value, would that give them an interest.
Only if the INTENTION that they should retain a monetary interest was there from the outset.

Otherwise, no.

thanks Ethel, there was never any agreement either verbally or in writing. But the person who gifted is trying to say there was a verbal agreement.
