Can anyone suggest a link between Status Quo, an area of Hampshire which became title of a famous book and an area of Dorset that was the subject of a political scandal in the 1950's?

The word 'Down' is probably the link. One Status Quo hit was called 'Down Down', the book was 'Watership Down', which is in Hampshire, and the Dorset scandal involved 'Crichel Down'.
