I contacted my last place of employment to ask them to send me my holiday pay, as I had not received it. In response they told me how many days I was owed and that they had paid me two months too many and that they request the money back.

Firstly do I have to pay them the money back? Can I refuse to pay it back until I receive my holiday pay?

Also I have noticed when looking at my payslips, I have been paid exactly the same amount for the past four months, even though I know I have done extra hours on some months. Can I ask them to document my clocking in and out time for these months, so I can check if I have been paid correctly? If so how many months can I ask them to go back and adjust my pay for?

Thanks

Yes, if correct, you do have to pay it back. Not necessarily immediately though.

If you think you have have been underpaid in the past few months then yes you can ask them to show how they arrived at their figures and if they are wrong you are due the money. You can ask them to go back as far as they are wrong.
