If a animal is prescribed a drug with well known side effects ,and it is stated on the drug manufactors website that vets and owners of animals be made aware of these side effects, also that cetain blood tests have to be done before prescibing this drug the animal then dies without the owner being aware of any problems who in effect is responsible. The animal was given a clean bill of health with only a slight imflamation one week before which was why his drug was prescibed.

hi GypsyGSD,
I think your case against animal welfare would be vry complicated but this is what I have found...

As it reads to me? as a main offence would be the unnecessary suffering of your dog via the drug that was administered via the vetinary surgeon whom did not inform you of the side effects.
The vet would argue that they took reasonable steps to ensure the needs of the animal were met.
All they would do, would be to improve their communication practices with the owners, and to bring any case would cost a small fortune.
I would suggest that you put pen to paper and read and re-read the letter you have written until you are satisfied that, if you were the receiver of the letter, that it read clearly and not of a grieving 'manical' pet owner.
I do not mean to sound harsh at all, I myself have sued the NHS. When you are close to the subject it is best to let a representative do the work for you.
My thoughts are with you as I have read about your dearest dog and I hurt for you.

Thank you for your reply and to be honest im not looking to take any one to court over this but i feel that there is so much info on this drug and its side effects that people should be made aware of this it has to be done by the vets so owners can make there own choice to use it or not Gypsyx
Please do it for the sake of others who won't be informed of this drug unless you make the vet aware of the distress it caused because you could not make that informed choice.
and that was because they didn't point out the seriousness of the side effects to you.
I must admit I now ask so many questions to protect myself and mine that they are ready for me these days and I get back to them in 24 hours after googling more info...
Knowledge is Power.
I wish you all the very best and I'm sure the vet will now change their communication skills with you.
