As we seem to be suffering more thunderstorms and flash flooding I think there may be a case for such a topic at some time in the future. I have just suffered a TV power-up failure which is quite likely to have been caused by a storm - an engineer is collecting it tomorrow. If I think it is interesting I shall attempt to post my experience in Home and Garden, which would appear to be the best place at present.

I would be interested to know what actually happened to your telly. In mine the power circuit was probably damaged by a storm, but no other electronic equipment was affected.
If you reply I shall be happy to provide more detail when I have received the engineer's report, probably no earlier than Wednesday. I shall put it in the Home & Garden topic.
