I am travelling to Spain a week on Tuesday, my current passport runs out on September 6th, I have booked an emergency appointment with the passport office. However, if that falls through can I stil travel? I believe you are meant to have either three or six months. Can't get a definite answer.

For Spain it just needs to be valid. Indeed one source which I believe reliable says an expired UK passport up to one year out of date is acceptable. (For Spain only)
I wouldn't risk it tho. It would be awful if you got to airport then the refused to let you fly. I thought you had to have6 months on it . Just phone passport office and ask.
