Hi to everyone I've done something very stupid and wrong. I have a friend who change the price tag in TK Maxx all the time so I try do do it today but I was cough. The security gay take all my details and call the police. The policemen came and write everything in his notebook I sign it. He did give anything or arrested me because the gay from the store said that they will do it from the store. Then he told me that I will have a fine . My question is what will happen now and is this will affect on my DBS check and of the store will take to cort?
Thank you for your answers and I know that I've done something really wrong I will not going to do something like this in my live.

You will probably get a 'Fixed Penalty' this is not a fine , so you do not go to court. As long as you pay the penalty( £80 I think it is), that is the end of it, no criminal record so not on your DBS check.
But if you do not pay the penalty then it does go to court and you will get a criminal record and a fine.
It rather depends on if you have a history or criminality. If this is a first offence you will get off with a fine. Yes, what you did was stupid and wrong.
You could make amends by telling others not to do it and so you can clear your conscience.
^^^ Sorry, fixed penalty, - to me that is the same as a fine.

Thank you for your answers. No I don't have a criminal history and yes I will advance everyone to not doing something like this and to be in my situation
jourdain a fixed penalty can be issued by the police or local council. It is not a fine and does not count as a criminal record because no court is involved. You do not have to accept a fixed penalty but if you refuse it or do not pay in time it does go to court and becomes a fine with a criminal record.
Thanks for the clarification, Eddie. :)
Minor shoplifting and motoring offences are now normally dealt with by way of a fixed penalty. No MOT for example is a usually a £60 fixed penalty. It saves a lot of court time in handling minor offences.
Anin you will also now be banned for all TK Maxx stores for life!

Of course I will pay this. Every action have a consequence and I have to take it. They give me a letter that I am banned for 12 months
Changing the price tag is not shoplifting, it is fraud. The justice system takes a much more severe view of fraud than of shoplifting.
I sorry you fell into temptation ANin
best thing is to pay the fixed penalty
tell people how stupid it was and get on with your life

I think atalanta's comment is unhelpful - what is done is done
Question Author
Thank you yes I will pay everything and will never done something like this any more in my life
