Want to learn to crochet but cannot understand the diagrams in the instructions. Also I am left handed so I think it makes a difference. Thought it might be easier to pick up if I could see someone doing it. Thanks.

Thanks for that. I've looked at it, but unfortunately I still can't understand how to do it! Guess I'm thicker than most.
No you are not.Just keep plugging away.i did and mastered it in the end. Perhaps you could find somewhere in your area to help you. What you need is someone to sit down with you and actually guide you through it.Perhaps you could stick a card up in your local Library or try a guild like the W:I.or local townswomens guild.Do you have a local woolshop? You may get help there .John Lewis also run workshops on knitting and crochet. Also "The knitting and stitching show" is held every year .Well worth going to if you are near any of the venues and you are bound to get help there

Thanks very much for all your help. I am nearly there, I can manage to do the first round of a granny square from instructions I have found on the internet, it is just starting the second round that I cannot get right. I live in a small village, we used to have a local woolshop but it closed down this year. I will keep on experimenting, and also follow your suggestions. I am only about 35 miles from Harrogate, where there is a knitting and stitching show in November, so if I haven't mastered it by then, I will try that. Thanks again.
You are very welcome and I wish you every success. I love knitting and crochet and you get great satisfaction out of producing something handmade. It's a nice hobby to while away the dark winter evenings. All the best and hope you will soon be the proud owner of a lovely blanket.!!
