Estate Agents 'moving' Boundaries?

Is it legal for estate agents to describe properties as being in an adjoining, perceived more salubrious parish than they are, in order to inflate the price, or could it be regarded as misrepresentation under sale of goods legislation?

It would come out in the searches -at that point the buyer could either rescind their offer or lower their offer to reflect the difference in price between one area and another.

The seller. They would be liable for any misrepresentation made by the agent.

In the late seventies, various areas of London were well slums and so the better areas stretched.... I remember this was parodied as Clapham and Vauxhall were pronounced Vole and Clarm.

Upper Clarm was some god awful place - but you will notice that that is not a parish....

Happens in Manchester - Worsley you have to ask which bit
and also Brum - there is a wrong part of Quinton and Harborne I think

Divebuddy -advertising a house in the wrong area is very different from an optimistic description in the property details. The exact location can affect council Tax and school catchment and services such as GP.
