I'm Scottish and sometimes have the same problem understanding some English accents. When I first moved to Brighton, I kept hearing the term "Hove Pipe Band" and waited to hear more about this group of Bagpipers. Every year, I heard the term again and it wasn't until 3 years later, I realised I was hearing "HOSE PIPE BAN". Hey ho...
