Currently I live with my mother & her husband. I am 18 but I am still in High School. Would I be able to move in with my grand mother by law or not? My mom says that I'm not going anywhere until after I graduate next year.

I guess that you may be in the US or Canada? This is a UK site, the rules might be different where you are.
What country do you live in? In the UK you could leave home aged 16. Whether that's a good move or not is open to debate.

@boxtops: Yes, the US
Judging by your post you are in the USA, this is a UK based site. If you are in the USA your laws may well be different to ours in the UK, nicole.
In the UK you could simply walk out at 16 years of age but it's unlikely that anyone here will know the legal position in your country (which may well vary from state to state anyway).

So I suggest posting on these US websites (remembering to indicate which state you're living in):

@Buenchico: I didn't know there was a US site! Thank you!!
but we are a lot nicer

@Hopkirk: Yes & this site is much easier to navigate & post. The US one isn't I've tried
You have made two posts today both about moving out of your Mums home. First it is ''with someone you love''( who is a lot older and well known to your family) and this one about moving in with your Grandmother. I assume they are related? what is the full story? In this case I think the problem is not the legal side of things (which are diffrent in the USA) but a relationship problem which would be the same anywhere. Tell us a bit more and we may be able to help with advice.
Question Author
@Eddie51: No they are not related. I am wanting to know if I can move out of my moms to my grandmas house while I'm still in school (now), when I ask about leaving with the older guy I'm looking at about a year from now. Not at this moment.
It appears that there are some state in US that have an age of majority of 21. Clearly in those states you have to do as your mom says

In the UK you can leave home at 16 or you may be like me and were thrown out of the house at 16.

I dont think this GB site can give you sensible advice.
