There is now a £25,000 cap on the total value of benefits that can be paid to any family, regardless of size. With rent of £1,900 per month that does not leave Abu Qatada much to live on. His personal assets have been seized, so how will he manage? Is he likely to be exempt from the new ‘cap’ due to his Human Rights? Or can we now buy him a plane ticket?

He'll have to downsize. Aren't some of his children in prison for various crimes? The bedroom tax should be applied too.
Not sure what will happen........but he isn't going anywhere for the time being.
I was wrong there.^ It's Abu Hamza who has the criminal children.
From the Guardian

///Ministers say a £26,000 cap on the amount of benefits families can receive will cut the deficit and incentivise people to find work///
I don't quite understand. Were the Philpotts getting £60,000 for their kids. As you start paying tax around the £9000 mark surely their is a case for taxing them as they do for the OAP pension.
Most, but not all, benefits are tax free.
26,000 as far as i read.
I assume this cap was the one suggested in 2010 by Osborne taking effect this year

that is why i am so flipping annoyed with this situation with the likes of Qatada and all, i get absolutely nowhere near those figures, always worked, and now look set to either pay lot more, which will have to for the time being or ship out. Pisses me off no end.
The Philpotts would escape this cap as they made their £60,000 from Child Allowances and the government has no intention of cutting this back. Maybe they should restrict this so that families are not encouraged to have more and more children.
he had those children with more than one woman, so it's not a whole family per se.

pdq1 - Osborne has proven in the space of three weeks how to bend the truth to qualify as a liar.

He said in the budget that millions would be better off because they would be removed from the tax system and better off. Then imposes caps and 'bedroom' tax to affect those same millions.

Is there a special quality which makes one become a Chancellor of the Exchequer.

Do you remember his face when over 60,000 people booed him at the Olympics medal ceremony? Priceless
How did Abu Qatada get into Britian, or was he born here?
Question Author
In September 1993 Qatada fled with his wife and five children to the UK, using a forged UAE passport. He requested asylum on grounds of religious persecution, claiming he had been tortured in Jordan, and this was granted in June 1994.
£25,000 Benefit Cap?
That must be one hell of cap! I only paid £4.99 for my flat hat!
Ducks and runs for cover.
Thankyou for the info sir.prize
I can never understand these asylum laws. We give sanctuary to those who want to do us harm whilst protecting a criminal/terrorist on the run from a friendly country. If Hitler were alive today he would be plotting our downfall in England and we would be paying him benefits to do so. Plane crazy!
plenty of scum in the UK hate our flag but love our benefits
i thought he got in using a fake passport or was that Abu Hamza...
Question Author
em10 - he did. That's what I said at 12:02 - a forged UAE passport
