Into hospital by emergency ambulance about a week ago. She lives alone, but carers come in 3 times a day to tend to her. Tonight a patient ambulance brought her home. This was at about 10.30 pm. The only reason I know this is I was in the kitchen at the time. I asked the ambulance people if her family had been informed that she was home. Dunno was the answer. I knocked on her door and asked if she needed anything. She gave me her son's phone number though a door she couldn't open and I rang him. This is an old woman who can't look after herself. As I type the son has not turned up. Are we so uncaring as a nation?
No I don't think we are at all uncaring, the son hopefully will turn up soon, but it's a braindead thing to have discharged someone vulnerable and frail at this hour of the night. Bloody stupid in fact.
Not all of it seems Jeza you took time out at least. Television has a lot to answer for (now of course internet mobiles Xbox) but before TV people socialized now they are to busy watching Eastenders.
Couldn't agree more nox. I have a lot on my plate with Mic, but this lady needs help. There cannot be any fresh milk or food in the house and I can't help as she can't open the door.
It could also have been her decision to leave the hospital at that time, I have also had people returned to the home where I worked at 02.00 after being admitted and being told she would be staying overnight, a lot is down to bed availability I'm afraid.
Mrs C her son lives less than a mile away. If I were a cynic I would say he wanted her out of the way to inherit, but as far as I am aware she has no money to speak of. Maybe he is sick of the burden of an elderly mother.
