it IS the newest ipad, seeing as that the ipad4 isn't out yet, so you don't have any grounds for complaint in my opinion. This always happens with technology -

sorry, cut off! Anyway, when you bought it, it was the latest ipad. They don't have to give you a refund, sorry!

"...surely if someone is not happy with the goods they can take them back"
Only if they are faulty, not fit for purpose or not as described. From your description your I-Pad 3 seems to fall into none of those categories so I reckon you're stuck with it. |

By iPad 4 do you mean the mini iPad? If so it has the same specs as the 3 just smaller
But that won't matter to a kid who HAS to have the latest model fgt.

The iPad 3 hasn't been discontinued, the new iPad Mini is not yet available in the UK and will be sold alongside the iPad 3 when it does arrive as they are aimed at different market sectors. I also can't find anything about Apple saying they'd upgrade anything.

As bednobs has said the ipad4 is not even out until next month so you don't have any grounds for a refund. For such an expensive item it would have helped you to ask around or do some research.

>>>Apple have said anyone whom bought from them will receive a free upgrade
Only if bought at Apple stores in the last 30 days. But anyway, why should you get a free upgrade. If I bought a Ford Focus car and a week later Ford brought out a new Focus would I expect a free upgrade, No. If bought a Samsung TV and a week later they brought out a new model would I epxect a free upgrade. No. This forever having the latest technology is what is making Apple so rich (the richest company in the world). The boss of Apple earned over 200 millions dollars last year (with share options). I find it rather sad that if people dont have the latest iPad, iPhone etc they are somehow missing out. Go and live in a poor country in Africa for a few months and THEN you may have something to moan about. >>>>but surely if someone is not happy with the goods they can take them back. Not tue, only if there is something wrong with it, not just because you "dont like it". |

Apple change their products quite often. It's up to you (or your daughter) to do the research and find out when the newer versions are coming out and buy it then.
The iPad 3 is fab and your daughter should be well chuffed to have one. I personally don't fancy the iPad mini as I think the key pad will be too small.
The ipad 4 is a full sized iPad.
It is NOT the iPad mini. http:// |

Thanks VHG, didn't realise there was an iPad 4 coming out. Still think astraman's daughter should be pleased with the iPad 3 though.

>>>didn't realise there was an iPad 4 coming out.
I think that is part of the problem. Apple normally give some indication a new device like an iPad is coming so people can hold off and wait for the new one. This new iPad 4 came "out the blue" and so people were buying the iPad 3 right up to the day before the iPad 4 was announced. But one review of the iPad 4 says: If you just upgraded your iPad in the spring (iPad 3), don't worry that you're missing much with this bump in the new iPad 4. We know a lot of people will feel betrayed, having thought they were getting the best Apple has to offer for at least a year - but that shouldn't cause that much consternation. However, if you're still using an iPad 2 or an original iPad, it's a significant step up, and still brings all the same Apple bells, whistles and whizzbangwhoosh that most have come to expect from the most popular tablet. |

You would have to be dumb or living in a cave to not know there was a new iPad due out imminently!!!
Cheers Nosha, now feel v dumb!
Lol sherr, I just accept Apple change their products so often that there is bound to be an Ipad 5 out by January! lol
Sorry Sher
Maybe it's cos I am a bit of an apple head!!! |
I was only joking. I don't keep up with new stuff. Himself bought me my iPad 3 for my birthday but I must admit it is better than my original one. However, my iPhone is ancient and he is on about getting me a new one but I am not bothered (no one phones me anyway, sob).
I must live in a cave then, I don't even have iPad 1 let alone know about new ones coming out...
..and no, astraman - changing your mind isn't a good enough reason. |
There has been a great deal of consumer protection which has passed into law in the last few years, the option to change your mind is not covered by any act unless facts were knowingly and purposefully denied to you at the time the contract was made.
