Hope someone can help with this.

My sister works in a care home 42 hours over 3 days but when it comes to leave because she works 2 shifts in 1 day, if she happens to book leave on that day they take 2 days leave from her.

Now in my mind she works full time but choses to do in compressed hours so her leave should also be in hours not shifts.

Does anyone know about this and can points us in the right direction.

Cheers all

Been looking at the link you put factor30,on working out a 5 day working week, one is entitled to 28 days holiday leave, does this include the weekend days.Or is that 28 days excluding them.
It should be based on hours
kloofnek it is 28 working days ie 5 weeks and 3 days off work.
how do you mean?
My son works a 40 hour week,so many days should he get?...an extra day is added after so many years.
sorry," so how many days..."
FGT, if your sister works out her leave in hours it should work out
using the calculator in Factor's link, she's entitled to 235.2 hrs per year, based on her working 42 hrs per week
kloofnek
Assuming your son does those 40 hours a week mon - fri, he will get 28 days off. Those 28 days can include xmas day, any BH days etc
If you work 40 hrs spread over 7 days it will inc weekends
It is important not to get confused here though between statutory minimum holiday entitlements and actual entitlements which may be more than the statutory minimum. To be consistent companies should use hours rather than days where people work different hours on different days
