Jury Service Allowances

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience of Jury Service?
My Fiance will commence her Jury service on Monday and the loss of earnings form has already been signed and completed by her Manager.

However I am wondering how to claim back money spent on bus/train fare and also petrol for travelling to and from the court.

In the information sent, there is not an allowances form.
I know that receipts must be kept for train/bus.

Do they give you the allowances claim form when you start Jury service on the first day or maybe the last day?

Also when claiming petrol how does this work - do you just submit the fuel receipts?? It is a 20 minute journey to the court.

Many Thanks in advance

You may already have seen this:

This site https://www.gov.uk/ju...how-to-claim-expenses says "Fill in the claim form included in your jury pack (which you’re given at the start of jury service)..."

In Scotland thee expenses form is on the back of the citation sheet

She should have been sent information by the Court about how to claim travel - ask her to check again - if not, she can ask on Monday.
^ or she can ring the court today and ask them!

Factor30- many thanks for this :)
just did it a few weeks ago..all paperwork is given to you at the outset..you claim back retrospectively on a form then it is paid into bank acct...
We were given a form when we started similar to a timesheet to note down how many hours we did each day and how many miles we travelled (no receipts needed) this was handed in at the end of the jury service and paid into the bank a week later
you have to submit tickets for bus/train..but just put down mileage...in Scotland
