When Sky+ Box Is Switched Off.

I've just had a new Sky+ box installed because my old one broke down. With the old one, the terrestrial channel came on when the Sky channel box was switched off. This enabled me to tape two channels while watching a 3rd.

The TV is not reverting to the "normal" channel when the box is put on stand-by. Is it something I can raise with Sky within the 30 days allowed or is this the result of digital TV now?

Thanks.

Sorry guys. This was meant to go in How It Works.
It sounds like your old box was connected with a SCART lead and your new box is connected with a coaxial lead. Quick test: which TV channel do you watch Sky on now, and which channel did you watch it on before?
If your tv doesn't have freeview or a digibox attached, there is no more analogue tv, it was switched off earlier last month, well in SE at least.

Ah!!! The Sky chap said I didn't need a Scart lead because the HDMI was all I needed. Can I just put the Scart back in?
our sky+ box is tuned so that sky is on the AV channel and then box goes into standby, freeview takes over.
Ignore my answer it's BS, don't know what I was thinking lol.
You could put the SCART back in, but HDMI is better quality.

All that's happening is that your TV isn't auto-showing another channel when you switch Sky off. You may be able to get your TV to do that, or you may have to use the TV remote control and do it yourself. In all other ways, assuming the installer replicated your existing setup, things should be the same. So you should still be able to tape stuff if you could before...
the london digital thingy got turned off but I can still receive meridian [only for
another week or so, I believe. I dont have sky+ yet, trying to get mr.c to agree to it some time in the future. I do have sky but without the +.

There's the rub Ellipsis. I don't have a remote for the TV. If I put the Scart in as well as the HDMI would that get it back to how it was?
Oh, you have a HDMI TV with no remote control? You must have lost it! :D

Fear not, you'll be able to go back to what you had before with SCART, but it may take a bit of fiddling. Before we resort to that, try this ... somewhere on your TV you should have an input selector. The symbol looks like this:

Note: I know that one's on a remote control, but you should be able to find a similar button on your TV somewhere. Keep pressing that button until you find the channels you want ...
Question Author
Yes, I Have lost it Ellipsis. We just got so used to using the Sky remote for everything, that it disappeared.

All I have on the tv, that might be what you mean, is a TV/AV button. Is that what you mean?

Thanks for your help.
What TV model do you have, chrissa1?
Question Author
It's a BushHD. The number on the back is....as best as my eyes can see......

IDLCD37T27HD.
Sorry, got called away last night chrissa1 ...

Your model number is actually: idlcd37tv27hd

You can buy a new remote control for it here: http://www.amazon.co....7TV27HD/dp/B003W4MZ54

I would recommend you do that. Once you have the remote, you can use the TV/DTV and AV buttons (immediately below the volume control) to switch between the SKY, terrestrial and any other device you have connected, e.g. a DVD player...
