No actual law as far as I know , but it may break local council bylaws.
This is from the Highway Code

244

You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London, and should not do so elsewhere unless signs permit it. Parking on the pavement can obstruct and seriously inconvenience pedestrians, people in wheelchairs or with visual impairments and people with prams or pushchairs.

[Law GL(GP)A sect 15]
I agree cars should not generally be parked on pavements.
I do however remember some jobsworth warden telling me off for pushing a broken down car onto a wide pavement in Lower Thames Street, London.
It was not my car but I thought it was better on the pavement rather than in the middle of a busy road.

Dont know but it cost me £35 in December when i did it!!

What. For pushing somebody's broken down car onto a pavement?.

Martin
Sorry Martin your post was not on when i was writing mine. No, i was parked next to lowered curb 2inch behind the back end off the car.The lowered curb was still accesible, I was parked on the road not the path.
I DON'T KNOW BUT YOU SHOULD COMPLAIN TO THE COUNCIL THAT THEY ARE FAILING IN THEIR DUTY TO PROVIDE SUFFICIENT WIDTH TO THEIR ROADS SO NO ONE CAN STOP WITHOUT BLOCKING THE ROAD OR GOING OVER THE KERB.
its technically classed as driving on the payment, offence code RT0803H for Avon and somerset constabulary the obstruction is when a mobility scooter or pram cannot fit easily in the gap left. Also you are driving on the pavement to park it there so again another law broken.
All cars on our street park on the pavements, we have no choice as the road is very narrow and the pavements very wide, so wide in fact that I once saw a car use it to get past an ambulance that had parked outside my next door neighbour's house. Nobody has ever been ticketed or told off for it in the 6 years I have lived here.
Do you live in Broadway, daffy?
No, a large village on the Fylde coast. If two cars were to park on the road opposite each other you would struggle to ride a push bike between them, for some very strange reason the pavements are at least saloon car width.
Highway code 244 and ,where I live in Durham it should be code 62 (instant £70),and rightly so!!
