if you have a caravanette and needed to install a small fridge - could you just buy one an put it in... or does it need to have some kind of special plug or adaptor?

are they just the standard household 3 pin plugs, or made specially to go in vehicles?

i am looking to buy a second have camper van, but i already have a small fridge and a small cooker, and other mini electical items and im wondering if i can save some money by just using those instead and just plugging them in normally, instead of buying one that is fully fitted...?

thanks

my daughter had a folding camper they just ran a normal 4 socket extension lead when on a site, she took hairdryer, heater, electric kettle, toaster etc.
Just need to be sensible about what you plug in at the sametime but the site hookup should have some form of electrical safety system in place (RCD )
AND NEVER USE A COILED LEAD !!!!!

cheers chas but i will probably not often be at a site...

so there is no way to use all these things unless you have an extension lead to the mains?

how can you use a fridge etc then?
Yes .. You fit a caravan type .. which can run on 12v or 240v (hook-up)
Here's one that's also gas ...

The secret is to use a second 'deep cycle' (or leisure battery .. split-charged through a relay from the engine. That way, you can run on 12v internal and not discharge the vehicle battery. Hook-up on site with special cable saves batteries.
caravan fridges can run on 240v/12v or in some cases gas, but to be honest only the 240v is worth running.
