Hi all, just want to ask a few questions about writing a cover letter to send to a literary agent.

I have kept it to one page as set in their guidelines. I have written the plot for the three picture books (as they are short books, I am able to send all three in). Now I have kept it simple and to the point making it easy for the editor...But!!!

I have read some advice saying that you should really put your personality in the letter as they are investing in me as a client too and need to know a bit about me. But this would mean putting in my quirky humor, which I'm never sure if it's professional or not!

Also how much of my life do I put in! Do I put in my qualifications, my ability to speak Welsh etc.... I just don't think it's relevant!

Thanks And x

Do what YOU think best - it's YOUR personality they are evaluating, not that of a conglomeration of ABers.

Thanks for your reply, I agree, I feel I should just do what's best for me, but I want to get it right and I don't want to be naive in thinking I can just let my personality loose on a letter that's supposed to be professional!

Having conflicting advice from books and websites is making me over-think it really :0(
