I think it will depend on the quantity he was intending to supply............

What have his legal team said on the matter ?
What class A drug is it?

You can look at talktofrank.com and it gives you info on what could happen if caught etc
Does he have any previous drug related convictions?
Question Author
he had 4.5 oz for him and 2 friends and no offenses at all previous
4.5 oz of what?
lala1984- it was 4.5 oz of a class A drug. Does the name of the drug make any difference here?
4.5 oz of grass might attract a lesser sentence than the same weight of heroin
Grass is a class B.
sandy, grass isn't a Class A drug
Just goes to show how little I know. Anyway, 1.5 ozs each is hardly a hanging offence. Might be in some countries, but not here.
Your husband is being held on judge's remand (which means that he will only have the same rights to visits that other convicted prisoners have, rather than the more generous rights afforded to unconvicted prisoners).

See here with regard to sentencing:

sweetnessheart - was only asking cos different drug carry different sentences/fines etc I was going to look it up for you but obviously wont bother. Why ask a question if you don't want help on it

I think 4.5 ounces is quite a lot. If it was heroin, for example, the street value would be maybe £10000
Assuming it is any of the following and as people say 4.5oz is alot

Cocaine and crack are Class A drugs - illegal to have, give away or sell. Possession can get you up to seven years in jail. Supplying someone else, including your friends, can get you life and an unlimited fine.

Heroin is a class A drug. This means that possessing it can lead to a prison sentence of up to 7 years and an unlimited fine. Supplying (which includes giving it to a friend) could lead to a life sentence and another unlimited fine
