I along with others was assigned to a new firm under the TUPE regulations a couple of months ago,we have now been informed that our original firm wants to take us back on.Anyone aware of the proceedure,if we want to return do we need to hand notice in,or is there some legal amount of time involved for it to become permanent at the new firm. Thanks for any responses.

Under TUPE your contract transfers in full to the new firm immediately. Their is no time frame in which it can be reversed. Your only option is to resign from the new firm and take a new contract with the old employer. Of course you will lose any accrued rights and lose employment protection.
As your post is headed TUPE reversal, are you saying that there may be an agreement made between your new employer and your new employer to transfer you back under TUPE arrangements.

If you are just wanting to leave and move back to your old firm then as Richard1966 says you'd have to quit
If the original employer and your current employer decide to effect a TUPE transfer that effectively reverses what happened a couple of months ago, you need to do nothing. The employers will work it between them. Under no circumstances should you resign - if this is suggested by either of the two employers there is something fishy going on and you should speak to ACAS.

Thanks fellas and buildersmate's answer seems closest to what has been put forward to us by our previous employers,They are contacting our current employers this week.
I don't know if you are allowed to or not but If your old employer wants you back and you are legaly allowed to, then negotiate with the 'old' employer a contract that takes your previous years service into account.
