In 1982 aged 14 I received a formal caution at a police station with my parents for an offence of theft from a warehouse. Is this caution still on file or held on a police data base after all these years?

may come up on an enhanced disclosure,if required, for a job
probably not - you have two things going for you: 1. you were a minor at the time and 2. it was in the days before computers. my advice to test this out before going for a 'proper' job would be to join an employment agency where you need one carried out (i.e. a care company). you will soon find out what the score is, but i would advise you not to try and go digging yourself with any agency in case they make records of your requestsetc. good luck - it sounds like you have moved on from this spot of bother in your very distant past
