JNO

stop hijacking this thread, you may post if you have opinions on the matter. Besides i may add that touching was not what he was doing and he certainly was not setting up his diary in a second home that you and i have paid for.

I wonder what prompted him to bury this news on the day that Charles Clarke was in trouble. Did some newspaper or the mistress threaten to do the dirty on him?

.................and yet still people doggedly (and incorrectly) feel that this Government is less sleazy than the last Tory Government. Blinkered naivety.

However - I am of the firm opinion that as long as it doesn't interfere with their ability to do their job (obviously in Prescott's case this is difficult to judge as he does naff all anyway) and it is not illegal, then they can pretty much do what the hell they like: if they fancy playing away from home or, if they are not married/in a relationship, indulge in an affair with a married woman (Blunkett), then I don't think it has got anything to do with us.

Jno's post is along the same stupid lines as those people who say you aren't allowed to comment on issues involving children if you don't have kids. Utter rubbish. Ignore.

The first thought that came into my head this morning when I heard about his affair is simply, Yuk, Yuk and more Yuk. Enough to put me of my brekkie!!!
The man is sheer entertainment. Leave him alone.
Have to say that I couldn't care less who's sh@gging who in this government...or any other one for that matter!! Only thing I find hard to believe is their naivety in thinking that they won't be found out!
that was my opinion DT: let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Or, don't criticise someone for doing what you've done yourself. (I'm sure flip-flop has never done anything like that, of course.)

The thought is almost as hideous as the whole John Major/Edwina Currie affair.

Oh no...I've now got that image in my mind too.

Naughty, silly Prescott. Ministers will always be found out when they play away from home.

PS yes I think you're right DT, the Mirror found out about it; I shouldn't think he had any say in how the story got out.
So, what?

Come on guys, when it comes to sleaze the Tories are rank amateurs. I pay homage to the masters, new Labour, take a bow.

And I do qualify jno, ok!

I don't care who he's had an affair with, it should be irrelevant and frankly it's none of our busines. I do care that a Govt Minister doesn't do his job properly, but as for people's private lives they should be their own.
share my halo Loosehead... but I think you're wrong to say Labour are worse than the Tories, a couple of whom have done time for perjury, remember? I rate that as very much worse than marital infidelity, or even selling peerages; it's a serious crime.
For anyone in a position of extensive power and authority, who are paid by us, the plebs, copious amounts of money each year there is an unwritten tag included which should state that he or she should be able to behave appropriately.

When you are in a high position and accountable publically for your behaviour, you should make sure that you are without fault as much as is possible. A one off fling could be a mistake; a two year affair is, frankly, just naughty.

The government should be the standard the country can follow; the example to us all, but it never is as they do sometimes behave as though they view themselves to be above the law or the moral code or conduct.

I'm all for forgivness and knowing that we all do wrong sometimes and that none of us are perfect; however, when you are making the rules, when you are supposed to be the yardstick, you are judged more harshly.

I don't know about education, education, education; more like years of corruption, corruption, corruption.

If this is what we hear, what are we not hearing about?

No, i'm not a conspiracy theorist!

disagree strongly with mimififi. MPs are not elected to be moral exemplars - that's what archbishops are for. Those who insist we should all be morally pure (as the Tories did - for a while) can expect some stick if they turn out not to be that way themselves. Labour have never told us how to conduct our sex lives, and in return we needn't waste our time telling them how to conduct theirs. Criticise them for the way they run the country, not the way they run their private lives.

I can't stand John Prescott, but what he does in his private life, is nothing to do with me - as long as he's not spending our hard earned money/tax on his bit on the side!

Those poor bed springs though.....!
