i work as senior care assistant in a nursing home we have to do certain training by law can you tell m what is an acceptable period of time to be given of time and date by my employer to expect me to go on a training program

It depends. If he said to you today you have to go on a residential course tomorrow then that would be unreasonable to make arrangements for home cover IE childcare etc. However if he gave at least a weeks notice would be passable but a fortnight or more would be better.

If it is to just go to the training centre for the day then not much realy unless you had to make special arrangements.

Why how long have you been given and what is the nature of the travel?

By the way, use of full stops and capitals within a structured sentance makes it so much easier to understand what you are writing.
