legally tied in to a telephone/tv package!

i have recently got a television/phone package from a cable company, but i have not signed the contract they gave me which is meant to last for a year , but I want to go elsewhere am I legally allowed to go?

I recently came out of a contract with B T.
I was charged �90 because i ended the contract prematurely plus outstanding call charges.
They did try to charge me for the remaining amount of time for broadband as if the contract had run it's course, i complained , they then reduced this charge to the �90 standard fee.
Check your contract for such a clause.
