savings

How much savings are you entitled to before it affects your benefits. I have recently inherited some money, it isn't a lot but I would like to keep it for a holiday for my 60th birthday.

If you mean Incapacity Benefit then it is not means tested and your savings are ignored.

But if you are getting Income Support, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit savings are ignored up to £6000. Above that, there is a sliding scale reduction in benefit until savings reach £16000, when benfit stops.
