No comment from me, but as an ex-Catholic, I thought someone might be interested.

He should have died hereafter ... ..
Not one of the pope's inspired choices - unlike Basil Hume

sullied by slow and maladroit handling of child abuse issues

Couve de Murville - cousin of the french foreign minister of that name - coov vuh smoove - was not smoove anough and got deposed for HIS response ['nothing to do with me: I wasnt there'] - so mac Cormack Murphy did better but still not good

conflict of interest - one of my teachers is doing time for abusing one of my contemporaries - I was untouched ( ha! - as Oscar Wilde really DID say - "oh no ! he was far too ugly!" - but er not about me) -and I did wonder why he had waited 45 y
yeah when you kick out a bishop - you depose him
Been on the sauce PP, even more wacky than normal.

Sorry Mickey not a rock cake so no idea, but so long as he wasnt involved in any of the abuse then RIP.
His name was Cormac, not Malcolm, Peter.
wacko - no he wasnt doing that ....

well YMF there was this guy and his name was Oscar Wilde
and some people thought he wasnt Very Nice at all.
And he lived a long long long time ago - longer perhaps than your grandpa - you know around when Noah was born.
So the fella who invented boxing the Marquess of Queensberry sent a naughty post-card which Oscar didnt think funny at all !
Oscar sued even thought his friends said it would end in tears
The case was a cause celebre _ a long word which means that the crowds flocked to hear the evidence and the way in which it was put.
Sir Edward Carson prosecuted the case and in cross examination of Wilde asked him if he has kissed a stable-lad to which Oscar Wilde replied - oh no he was far too ugly.
This sounded brilliant at the time to the gallery but unfortunately it became cliche - and Carson would name a man and ask - Did you kiss or was he too ugly ?
Poor Oscar -he lost that case and went to prison and died

and so you see YMF you dont have to be on the sauce
all you have to do is read wiki and a bit more

I agree if you dont know what a rock cake is or what he believes

and finally

//Sorry Mickey not a rock cake so no idea, but so long as he wasnt involved in any of the abuse then RIP.//
yes he was you dimwit - he covered it up but not as stupidly as Couve de Murville thirty years ago. Gor Blimey ....
I love the no idea bit - how true! how true!
