Turns out it WAS my next door neighbour. His wife told me today that he had died as a result of complications. I feel a bit crap now for sending a get well soon card. A simple motor accident (involving no one else) and hes gone. The best neighbour ive ever had and a good friend to me over the years. I was gutted when I heard.
Blimey, you just never know whats around the corner.

My sincere condolences, Nailit. x
I'm sorry to hear about your neighbour.
You showed you cared by sending that card.
Don't worry about the card but get a condolence one for his wife. She will appreciate it.
Very sad indeed, your card would have meant a lot.

You are right, we never know what is in store.x
So sorry, Nailit......and she'll need a good friend and neighbour now....I'm sure you'll fit the bill.....x

Ive had to go around sometimes at night and sometimes in the morning to pick him up when he's fell and couldn't get back up, you expect that with elderly people (had the same with my mum), but apart from that he was fully with it and couldn't do enough for anyone. Just a bit of a shock when a simple accident takes your life. You seem to think that people will go naturally of old age, not some freak accident.
How old was he, Nailit?
Don't feel crap. You did a nice thing and I'm sure his wife would agree. God Bless.

Early 80's Tills. As I said, you expect people to die from old age but a bit of a shock when its a freak accident.
Do you know what actually happened? How did he get trapped in the car? Did he reverse into a wall or something? Sorry to sound ghoulish but knowing the place it happened, I'm wanting to know more details. I might know him, or one of my relatives might.
Very sorry to hear the news Nalit, you were a good friend and neighbour to him. But at least you now realise that the emergency service response was appropriate to a critical situation.

Tills, you might have heard of him. It was Reg Shaw, founder of the Forest Park residents association. Absolute top bloke who got loads done on behalf of the local residents here in Hanley.
I don't like to mention it, but if as you say, he was so frail he could not get up if he fell , do you think he should have been driving a car?
It is fragile, tragic they're not together as always and that something can happen to rob them of that.
I'll ask around, Nailit. Thank you. One of my uncles probably knows him.

//Do you know what actually happened?//
Yes, but a bit reluctant to post on a public forum. Essentially a tragic accident Tills involving only him.
I understand, Nailit. I shouldn't have asked really. Sorry.
^ I surmise that he lost control of his car? As I said do you think it was safe for him to be driving?

He was quiet a competent driver EDDIE, just that he was quiet a 'heavy' bloke...
Has his death been reported in The Sentinel?
