Are we talking about childhood bullying?
Its often said that bullies are often bullied themselves (at home or elsewhere) I think that's a load of botox. Some people...right from childhood...are born selfish, egotistical, morons who will trample on anyone to assert themselves without any thought for the harm they cause. Ive seen it (and was a victim of it) in school. But it carries on unchecked through life. Seen it in school, the home, prison, the workplace, family life etc. Not sure what the answer is.
I had the answer Weecalf, after a lot of bullying from this one bloke, I flattened him, End Of.
TWR, I had a similar experience with a neighbour. I went to prison for it. (only for a few weeks though and the break did me good ;-) )
But seriously, ive seen it time and again, the victim eventually hits back and gets punished for it.
Strange world...
A bully can cause the victim to take their own life Weecalf, or anything on those lines, If it's a school Issue it need reporting.
Remember, all bullies are cowards. Teach your kids and yourself, if you need to, that confronting them is ultimately easier than putting up with their behaviour. They will leave you alone and find an easier "victim".

Interesting it's left to the teachers so in others words those lawmakers don't want to know .
A child at my grandchilds school is being bullied right now and the school really don't want to know.. It's got so bad that the Mother of the bullied child has involved the police.....This should not need to happen!
No I don't think that bullying should be a crime. Being bullied is in the eye of the beholder.
How? Have you ever been bullied SJ ?
Yes, I have. I have been bullied by some really nasty, spiteful queens over the last few years.
That's sad SJ. What did you do about it?
Nothing. What can you do about it?
There's lots you can do. I'm probably not the best person to talk to though. The person that bullied me at primary school, I punched in the face. She never bullied me again. When my Son was being bullied I spoke to the boy's Mother she was horrified and grounded him for a week. It never happened again and they became best friends
My youngest daughter was recently targeted by a bully (she regularly attracts the attention of mean kids). I went in and the school dealt with it immediately however the child's parents now give me the evils whenever I see them.
Have you tried talking to the parents Sher? They probably don't know the full story
The mother is a primary school teacher and a governor at the school - she knows the score. I'm just glad the school dealt with it quickly and efficiently although there is still underlying nastiness but my daughter knows it's nothing she's done.
The difficulty with the concept of bullying is actually pinning down what it means.

People who are bullied usually have the additional pressure of being told to 'man up / get a sense of humour / lighten up / stop making a fuss about nothing ... / and similar unhelpful nonsense.

So to try and frame a legal system that can define specific types an levels of bullying is extremely difficult, if not impossible.

Bullying is sadly still a part of modern society, exacerbated to some extent by the rise of social media where keyboard bullies can inflict serious damage from a distance, often on people they have never met.

But legal redress is difficult - I wish I knew what the answer actually is.

Education is my best offer - but that takes money and long-term commitment, to it's never going to happen.
