Hi,

I had a new carpet fitted in early Feb but by late April the carpet had started to fray and a snag line has appeared from under the metal plate that goes between the rooms by the door (sorry can't remember what it is called lol)

The carpet fitter isn't replying to my emails.

What, if any is my course of action to get it fixed?

Am I allowed to request he fix it and if he doesn't what do I do then? Do I get someone else to fix it and charge him?

Thanks

Do they not have a phone number ? A shop ?

If they are not compliant it sounds the sort of thing you could go to the small claim court with. Not that I'm any expert. Talk to them first, find out what they are prepared to do. Mention the use of the legal action option only if you don't get anywhere with them.
Old Geezer is correct, write to them by recorded delivery outlining the problems, and warn them that if they fail to respond within 14 days then you will apply to the small claims court with a view of getting your money back, plus cost of the action and interest. Go to your local court and ask for a 'small claims pack', its quite straight forward, you pay a small fee, which you can claim back if successful, more often than not the other party either pay up before it gets to court or they fail to turn up, in which case you win, thats my experience of it anyway. Keep all correspondence, emails, letters, text messages etc, and take photos of the problem areas of your carpet, it will help your case. Good luck.
was it organised through the store you bought the carpet if so get on to them .

Hi and thank you for your replies.

It was a 'man and a van' at the local market but to be fair he has been on the same pitch for about 10 years.

I managed to see him this morning and he swears that he emailed me back!! However he has said he will go and look at it and that it just needs stretching.

Hopefully he will fix the snags and the run so all will be well.

I shall come back and repost if he does'nt do it or anything.

Thank you
Great.

He may well have been lying about the e-mail, but it could be in your junk folder, or maybe he wrote down the e-mail address incorrectly.

Good luck with the visit/inspection/repair.
