Does anybody know what bird has a song/cheep that is like 2 notes then what sounds like a slide whistle!

I only hear them as it gets dark.

I'll keep looking.

If I manage to record the call I'll link to it.
Ive heard birdsong with a sliding scale but could only see a blackbird. This link doesnt do it justice.

Not a blacky - we do have them - one has trained us to feed him worms on demand - he'll sit on window ledge, follow us aroung the garden etc.
Many birds have a different song for twilight. Could it be a goldfinch? It's contact call sound a lot like your description.
My laptop runs too slow to put up a link,but it might be a chaffinch? They have that funny wee "run" in their call.

Getting close with goldfinch - actually heard the bird yesterday but it only was the first 2 notes.
