Hi,

I have phoned the passport office and the 'call centre' bloke didn't know and couldn't get hold of a supervisor so thought \i would ask here in case anyone knew the answer :)

A couple from Jeresy had a baby (in Jersey) and because the baby was seriously ill was flown the same day over to the uk. When they eventually fly back does the baby need a passport of it's own or can he travel on his parents?

Thank you

That isn't a passport query - they do not need passports to travel between the UK and Jersey

It's an airline security query.

Airlines do not generally require ID for infants.

So are you saying the baby doesn't need a passport?
That's what I'm saying.

The adults don't need passports either - they just need ID acceptable to the airline. Passports is simplest..
As above you do not need a passport to travel to and from the Channel Islands.
Dzug is of course correct there is no immigration control between Jersey and the UK and therefore no Passport is required but Airlines will probably require some photo ID and a passport may be the easiest form of ID. Children under 16 require their own passport which is for 5 years, they will not be included on their parents passport as this would have expired by 2008, as before 1998 children could be included on parents passports.

What's the airline?

If it's Flybe they do not require a passport but do require to see the birth certificate if the infant is under one year old - or for a seat to be purchased for him. Only under 1s are allowed to travel on the parent's lap.

For 2 to 15 year olds the adult's word is sufficient

So in this case provided the child has a seat - no passport or ID.
typo there - under 2's must either have a seat or have id (birth cert) provided, not under 1s
