I would like some advice on entering this line of work, preferably from someone within the sector. Too much detail to go into here but any help would bemuch appreciated.

Well, if you like getting up at 5am to be in the office by 7am and not get home until 9pmthis is the line of work for you! You also may have to give up a number of weekends. The work is very high pressure, depending on what you do to some extent, but if you make a wrong decision you can lose alot of money. Millions of pounds are traded each minute and your success in the job depends on your ability to cope with stress and pressure, and absorbing and processing information very quickly. The ability to leave your work out of the home is paramount.

 

On the plus side, there is alot of money to be earned in this line of work, probably the main reason so many people want a job in an investment bank.

Click on the news and advice section, and then to sectors explained, to look into what people do in this line of work.  It is also worth looking at the jobs on offer, and go to investment banks websites to investigate what it is like working for the company.
