what should i put in my cover letter, to apply as a part time waitress.

My first line is;
Dear sir/madam
My name is ????? ??????, and I would like to apply for the part time waitressing position that I saw had recently become available at your hotel. I am currently studying for my GCSEs, of which I am predicted to do well, and gain eleven certificates, but I also have relevant experience for this position from Sea Cadets.

What should i go on to mention, considering i don't want to write on my cv which will be on the second page.

I've done my cook steward certificate at cadets, during which i learnt what cutlery to lay out and how, depending on the food being served.

11 gcses, all a* - b and a pass in ict which i did in year 9.

For both school and cadets, i am punctual, smartly dressed etc etc etc

whats the best order and is there anything else i should add?

Okay, First of all you don't need to mention your name in the body of the letter. Your qualifications are worth mentioning but only briefly (no need to go into details such as took one in year 9). Yes, mention your cooking etc experience in cadets and your qualities (punctual, smart). Also mention (a) when you are available and (b) why you want to work there and why you are suitable.
Good luck
Hiya ..
Grammar: suggested ...
at your hotel, that I recently became aware of.
in which I am expecting to achieve good results, gaining eleven ...
New sentence: I have some relevant experience with my work with the Sea Cadets.
(precis background relavant experience of importance)
List quals.
(I am well presented and punctual by nature, ....) (to finish off)
and "I am friendly and enjoy interacting with customers. "I am quick to learn"
I must have interviewed 50 people .. but the very first thing I look at is if they can fill a form in without obvious blunders, spelling mistakes or bad grammar.

Thanks i'm finishing it tonight. If there's no adress and i'm not sure of the address either, even though i know where it is, do you think it is ok to email it? Plus you know its there straight away rather than a couple of days time.
It's better to find the place, then the manager, and hand it over personally.
You must realise that it shows enthusiasm towards the position : )
If the cv/letter is right too, I would be surprised if you didn't stand a really good chance.

Best of luck in getting that job, Molly.

You might also get some free food to you liking. :-)
Make sure you take more than 50p for the bus though.

The bus doesn't go that way, it only takes 15 minutes to walk though.

this is what i have so far, with some thing sensored such as personal information and i have two references.

Dear Sir/ madam,
I would like to apply for the part time waitressing position that I saw had recently become available at your hotel. I am currently studying for my GCSEs, of which I am predicted to do well, and gain eleven certificates, but I also have relevant experience for this position from Sea Cadets, and have gained appropriate attributes from this organisation and from my work experience which I did for two weeks last year. For all three establishments, I learnt quickly and worked hard, and continue to do so, at school and cadets.

At all three aforementioned establishments, I pride myself on being; hard working, punctual, polite and dressing smartly. From these places, I also feel that I have learnt new attributes such as communication, leadership, interpersonal skills and stewardship, all of which are useful for this job. Plus I have relevant experience for this job, from completing the cook/steward certificate at sea cadets. For this award, I had to identify appropriate ways of setting a table according to the time of day and menu, napkin folding and how to serve; food and drink. This means that I would require less training that other candidates as I already have some skills that this job requires, meaning that less time would be wasted on me, and so I would be able to start work sooner and it would be less hastle for your current staff.

INTERESTS & ACTIVITIES
SeaCadets

I have learned skills such as; stewarding, seamanship, communications, sailing and rowing since I joined. Some weekends from spring to autumn we do boating (rowing, sailing or power boating).
For my perseverance, I have managed to reach the rate of able cadet, and am now the joined highest rate, in only eighteen months. I also often help to fundraise for the sea cadets, which shows that I am willing to work hard in everything I do.
Hi
Punctuation and a couple of grammatical errors.
Look through again later if you wish.
I'd keep the covering letter brief, it's easier to read quicker in amongst other applications eg...

Dear Sir/ Madam (try and find out the name of the person it will go to if poss),

I have enclosed my CV in application for the waitress position advertised.

As regards relevant skills and experience, during my time as a Sea Cadet, I obtained my cook/steward certificate which appropriate table setting, napkin folding and serving both food and drink.

I am hardworking, punctual, well presented, friendly and polite and am a very quick learner.

I would be more than willing to come in for a trial to prove my suitability for the position.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

For the CV, make sure it fits neatly on no more than 2 sides of A4 in a decent sized font and nicely spaced so it is clear to read and the important information stands out. No big gaps if possible making sure you also include space for your contact details and referees.

Make use of bold type, bullet points and tables if needs be. Try to avoid explaining too much, make the information clear and easy to read. Think “at a quick glance” e.g. bullet pointed skills obtained.

For example, you don’t need to put “grade” before each of the predicted grades and you could put them in a table to save space for other skills and experience.

Continuity is also important, for example, don’t put some months in full and some only in short.

What fundraising did you do? Could be worth expanding that.

When you mention being away some weekends with cadets, would this affect working hours? Make sure you don’t inadvertently put something which makes them query your suitability or availability
