There seems to be so much b1tching and gossping with people in the office, and I know for fact that a lot of it's about me. I could prove it, but why would I - it would seem that the whole situation would get worse if I did. So many people way too interested in what other people are doing or saying, they don't even notice what they are doing / what stress they are causing - or maybe it is deliberate, and it's all to make me feel like they are doing it?
Who knows, I keep my head down and get on with it - I hardly mingle, don't like most of them anyway, but am pleasant for pleasant's sake if you know what I mean, and still I get all this backstabbing and b1tchiness.
Does anyone else experience similar behaviour from work peer groups and if so, how can it be addressed without causing too much trouble?

roosi-- what a miserable time you are having at work.Situations like this are very hard to resolve , if not impossible.Al you can do is do as you are doing , keep your head down , get on with your work and be pleasant to others when the situation arises.
Extremely hard to do -- but these people are not that important to you. They do not pay your wages - the reason we all work. When they finally realise that they are not getting to you they will start on someone else. They will really -- believe me.Sincere good luck Brenda.
P.S. don't take these probs home with you and waste your leisure time agonising about things that will change themselves given time.

Thanks very much Brenda, it is hard to not let rip at those involved, but I feel I can't due to the repercussions it may cause. Am too soft I know, and yes I really try not to take my thoughts home with me as I know that there are far more important things to be worrying about which mean far more to me than this sh1t. Only thing is, you spend so much time at work eh.....
Thanks
roosi -- I for one do not think you are too soft.you are being quite strong in realising that there is an issue and dealing with it in a sensible way. You probably have more awareness of what is going on than all the rest put together , and you have the resolve and strength of character to rise above this in time.To me that is the sign of a mature ,well balanced person who has a great deal of inner strength .As before G.L. Brenda.

roosi - are you sure youre not working at the same place as i used to work? lol - it sounds very very familiar!
seriously though, aww, i feel for you, i really do, as i had just the same problem as youre having at my last work place.
its horrible isnt it.
even our boss was as bad as the staff, so there was noone to turn to talk to or to get any help from, unless i went above him, which wouldnt have been a wise thing to do...!
brenda gave some good advice there, so try as best you can to not let the stress overspill into your home life roosi. hard i know, because i used to go home and get upset sometimes myself, dreading going in the next day.
its a heck of a long working day when youve such unpleasant people around you isnt it.
i wasnt sorry when i was made redundant from my place, at least it was a way of escaping the stress id been going through day in day out.
ok it was shock to the system at the thought of now being without a job after working all my life since leaving school at 16, but my health and my overall wellbeing got better once i was away from it all.
i hope things improve there for you roosi, really i do..
and as brenda and supastar say, just carry on as youre doing, youre doing the right thing, dont let them see theyre getting to you, and hopefully they might just give up in the end.
youre far better than those people, theyre the ones that are the sad insecure ones that need to bitch and belittle others to boost their own self esteem....
take care and keep your chin up flower, good luck x
