I missed my signing on appointment through being ill. What can I do to avoid my claim being cancelled?

I ended up staying in bed all day through feeling rough, not sure what it was. Felt bad yesterday but it got worse today, almost a flu type thing. Finally recovered, not sure what it was but freaked out when I realised I missed my sign on. My appointment was the last thing on my mind, to be honest. I've never missed it before, always been punctual, always shown more than enough jobseeking efforts - my question is, if I phone them up and I'm honest with them, and apologise, and say I can go in next week or something, is there any chance that they WON'T cancel my claim and have me go through the whole claim process again? or is it a kind of... hard-set rule? Thanks!

You have no choice but to phone them. At least you'll know the answer then.

They will probably be ok....

I hope so...

I just phoned and was told they don't have the diaries out for next week yet (?) and to ring back within 5 days.

Is there anyone on here who works at a job centre and can advise as to how I can avoid having my claim cancelled?

Thanks
