depression work and benefits?

hi i was recently told i was suffering from depression....i was hoping to get a job as my boyfriend works 50 hours a week and after having a baby we need all the money possible....what can i do im to depressed to even consider work and we are struggling to live on the money we have now after paying the rent and all the bills...is there any type of help im entitled to or any other help i can get? thanks x

Amy, I think the first thing to do is get your depression under control. Go to your doctors (or go BACK to your doctors if it was them that told yuo you were suffering from depression) as soon as possible and tell them ALL your symptoms. You'll find that they are very understanding. Depression is much more common than people think. Once you have this under control you can start to remedy other areas of your life.

If your partner is working and you have a baby you (as a family) should be entitled to Working Tax Credits or Working Families Tax Credits which is means tested. If you get a job would it cover the cost of childcare? Seek treatment for your illness and seek financial advice from the Citizen Advice Beauro who may help you with applications.
