Tell your new employers and if they're not sympathetic ask whoever wrote to you about jury service to defer it, explaining the resaon why.
Would have thought it would be okay as it says to them that you are an upstanding member of the community.

Unlike me lol
I got called up for Jury service and got out of it by telling them I was running a small business that couldn't cope without me being there. They let me off
Smart move!
you should never lose your job over this. any one at some point in their life may be contacted for jury service, and if so you should go and attend as its part of helping out for the community by members of the public. be upfront and honest with your employer and tell them that you need to go. it is best to be open and honest especially if your just starting a new job. they should never sack you over this.
