Hi
I'm currently a fully qualified English teacher (BA and PGCE) teaching in an English state school. However due to changes in my personal life i'm considering jacking it in and maybe going abroad for a bit. I have exerience teaching key stage 3, GCSE and A level and have taught English lit and lang, media and drama.
Can anyone help me in terms of researching jobs in teaching abroad. also does anyone have information regarding salaries, etc.
I have currently been thinking about America mainly - especially considering the language similarities. Also i am looking for a post suitable for a qualified teacher as opposed to 'teaching english abroad' which a lot of gap year students do.
Any help, info or experience of teaching abroad would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I currently do that over here in Spain.
I went to the British council and they gave me a list of schools that either follow the English curriculum or that have english as a language in the school.
I did TEFL for a year whilst I was waiting for a position and I hated it.
I qualified as the old BEd which I think is now a BA QTS.
I had to go through the rigmarole of getting official stamps from a notary and getting my qualifications validated which can take forever, but its worth it.
I can find out if the British council have a web site that covers the world.
I know that a girl I went to Uni with is currently teaching in the US, but had to get her qualification validated first before she could officially teach, but I'm sure whatever school would help you with the process. Mine did.
Would you have to consider that english may not be whoever you are going teach first language?
